A group dedicated to creating a memorial of Lincoln’s tank history has also launched a special ale.

The Lincoln Tank Memorial Group created Lincoln Tank Ale with the help of Pheasantry Brewery of East Markham.

lincoln tank aleThe ale is sold by Small Beers of Lincoln and by the brewery direct, and is a “well hopped, classic English” beer with “full rounded flavour” and low to medium bitterness.

The tank group are presently trying to bring a life size replica of the first tank, produced in Lincoln, to Tritton Road roundabout.

However, it will cost the group almost £30,000 to erect, so a donation will be made to their efforts for each cask of Lincoln Tank Ale sold.

So far, the Group has seen a number of donations, including a £10,000 offering from online strategy game, World of Tanks.

Joe Cooke Chairman of the group, said: “This is another welcome addition to our fundraising efforts and we are very grateful to Mark Easterbrook from Pheasantry Brewery for his support, we have already received emails from people who have tasted the beer and remarked how pleasant it is to contribute to the project in such an enjoyable way!”

Pheasantry Brewery’s Mark Easterbrook added: “We were keen to become involved when the tank group contacted us earlier this year, already there is keen interest in the beer from pubs either wanting to support the project or wanting to try out the new brew.”
